At Governor’s Glen this week the activities were fun and stimulating. We had fun with our Community Bingo games winning prizes and having fun. We sat outside on Friday as the day permitted us to do so. We sat and reminisced with caretakers about what we used to do when were younger. That evening we enjoyed a movie and ate popcorn. Just being one big happy family. Great times, with great people!

What a busy week we had this week at Governor's Glen!

We had a wonderful Mardi Gras celebration with the residents. Vitas Hospice's Gary Niedermann posed as our bartender serving nice virgin pina coladas and margaritas. We had the infamous King Cake and other refreshments. One of the medical technicians baked a cake from scratch and decorated it with Mardi Gras items.

The caretakers took the time to share with the  residents some of the details behind the Mardi Gras celebration. We wore masks and crowns and carried wands and other paraphernalia that made the celebration complete.

Some of the residents remembered when they went to New Orleans back in their day and shared the experience with us.

The rest of the week was just as much fun, with churches that came to visit and sang for the residents and gave words of encouragement.

Services an Assisted Living Facility Can Provide

    Last updated 1 year ago

For many seniors, assisted living facilities offer the best of both worlds. On one hand, residents have their own residence and independence. On the other hand, they are in a community that provides an array of services and activities to meet the various needs that may arise. Here is a look at some of the services that an assisted living facility can provide for you or a loved one:

    Daily Living Services

Assisted living programs will provide services to accommodate their residents’ daily needs. For example, three meals and snacks in between are provided for residents of high-quality assisted living communities. Meals may be cafeteria style, served in rooms at the resident’s convenience, or restaurant style. Other daily services include in-room housekeeping, and laundry services.

    Personal Services

Residents that require assistance with personal care such as eating, grooming, toileting, walking, bathing, or dressing, can be accommodated in assisted living facilities. Most senior assisted living centers will offer these services 24 hours a day.

    Medical Services

Senior living facilities will also meet the medical needs of their residents. An on-site pharmacy, medication assistance or reminders, skilled nurses, and access to health care, can meet most of the medical needs of residents in assisted living. Some assisted living centers, like Governor’s Glen in Atlanta, even specialize in memory care for residents with Alzheimer’s and dementia. Other medical services include 24-hour call systems, on-site physical therapy, and exercise programs.

    Amenities

For the convenience of residents, senior living care facilities also offer a multitude of fun amenities. Some examples include a fitness center, a pool, a beauty salon and barber, convenient transportation, and postal services:
